Contemporary Guidance Services, Inc. (CGS) operates
Vocational Training Programs and Adult Day Services in
the New York metropolitan area. Our goal is to develop
each individual’s full potential and to promote
independence.

Our Vocational Training Programs and BPSS Career
Training Center use a comprehensive rehabilitation
approach that combines intensive training and practice in
the job skills specific to each career with a thorough
grounding in such key “soft skills” as appropriate
workplace attire and grooming, positive ways to
communicate with supervisors, co-workers and customers,
good attendance and punctuality, and appropriate behavior
on the job. Our consumers graduate with all the skills needed to “hit the ground running” in their new jobs!

A vital part of every consumer’s training is the Work Experience internship. CGS partners with community businesses to provide each training program consumer with workplace experience in his or her future field. What they learn in the classroom and vocational counseling groups is put right into practice on their internships.

Upon successful completion of our vocational training programs, CGS graduates have the assistance of our Job Development and Placement staff to help them find competitive employment in their field.

Adult Day Services provides individuals with developmental disabilities with a variety of programs including pre-vocational and educational instruction, supported employment, community volunteer work and recreational activities. All services are designed to promote integration into the community through volunteer activities, recreation and social skills enhancement.

CGS also provides comprehensive case management through Medicaid Services Coordination to help consumers and their families access community resources such as recreational, educational and social activities, medical and counseling services, and assistance in negotiating the benefit system. The “circle of support” facilitated by MSC helps the consumers to participate actively in community life – integration and inclusion at its best.
