Adult Day Programs
Gaining valuable work experience in the community
CGS Adult Day & Transition to Work programs provide an array of pre-vocational, educational and recreational services to individuals under the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
Our Community-Based Integrated Day Habilitation program offers participants volunteer experience while enjoying all the rich resources of New York City. Individuals volunteer in hospitals, nursing homes, stores and many other businesses, while discovering and enjoying social, recreational and physical fitness activities and community resources.
Supported Employment is for individuals with the most significant disabilities. We provide job development as well as job coaches who work beside the individual to provide hands-on support when they begin their new job. Once they are familiar with and competent at their job, coaches continue to be available to maintain employment stability. An enhanced program is also available.
Other programs offered under OPWDD are:
Medicaid Service Coordination, which includes advocacy, case management, referrals, and development of an Individual Service Plan centering on each participant’s specific goals.
Our School Holiday Respite Program (SHRP) provides social and recreational activities for young adults (ages 14 to 21) with special needs on the 20 days each year when New York City Public Schools are closed. This program offers an array of safe, supervised, age-appropriate activities for the students.
