Miguel C.

All CGS graduates are success stories, but one of our most recent graduates and success stories is about Miguel. He completed our Office & Computer Technology [OCT] training on January 31, 2013.  Miguel was able to complete the program by learning and being able to demonstrate a wide range of technical skills needed for a contemporary office worker. This includes but is not limited to Computer Application Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook), Keyboarding and Data Entry. Miguel’s impressive speed of 88 words per minute with 100% accuracy was the highest speed achieved by a CGS OCT graduate. Throughout training Miguel was determined and committed to surpass any obstacles that stood in his way.  Not only did he successfully complete the program, but he was hired immediately by his internship site Igenii which is an Internet start up company. Miguel is an inspiration to the students in our OCT class as they see the positive outcomes of what hard work and perseverance can do.

Partnership Opportunities

Partnership Opportunities

In order to facilitate innovative and effective career training, CGS is continually developing collaborative partnerships within the business community. These partnerships typically include Affiliation Agreements to serve as a Volunteer Job Training, Internship or Job Placement Site.


CGS’ Day Habilitation Program partners with many local community businesses and organizations to create opportunities to promote inclusive job training which corresponds to each participant’s individualized program goals. CGS staff work closely on site with our program participants to train them in pre-vocational skills which helps maximize future competitive employment. CGS currently has successful partnerships with the following organizations: Burlington Coat Factory, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, Cornell Medical Center, St. John’s Bread & Life, and the VA Hospital.

CGS’ Career School & Work Readiness Programs all include internship experience. Internships typically extend over a 6 month period with 3 days per week at a business site and 2 days of class instruction. CGS students also receive counseling and vocational support from our team so we can truly maximize their professional development.

Businesses’ that become CGS Internship Sites allow highly motivated students to practice the skills they are learning in class and hone their abilities to serve within a competitive workplace setting. Our Internship Sites also benefit from the additional support to their own workforce without incurring any additional expense since there is NO COST for serving as an Internship Site. CGS students intern for credit as part of the required hours for their career training. In many cases, Internship Sites are so pleased that they opt to hire CGS graduates after they complete the program. Such hires are especially beneficial since they allow for successful employment of our students while helping business’ secure dedicated and trained employees who are already familiar with the daily practices within their organization. It is truly a win-win!


Community partners that hire our Career School graduates experience many key advantages. This includes but is not limited to:

  • RELIABILITY: We offer businesses pre-screened, professionally trained employees;
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE: Our graduates are responsible, dependable workers who demonstrate an excellent work ethic;
  • TAX CREDITS: CGS can guide employers through the application process to secure Federal and State tax credits;
  • LONG-TERM SUPPORT: If there is a work-related concern, CGS is available for guidance to assist our graduate or the employer;
  • COST-EFFICIENCY: Hiring CGS graduates saves a company time, energy and resources that they’d have to use for recruiting and training of entry-level employees.
